Annabelle Dexter-Jones

  • Most people don’t look their best in the morning!  You either have to have been blessed with the right sequence of events in the DNA department or be dating/married to some one who loves you so much, that while you see something that resembles Dot Cotton in the mirror, they only see a Kate Moss resemblance!  But even then that is no guarantee, as I can attest to when this last weekend, as I reluctantly awoke to the melodic yells of “mamma, mamma”, floating like a sledge hammer into our room, my husband’s eyes flickered open, he looked at me for a few sleepy seconds before slowly rolling them up to my hair, whereupon a smile he could not stop, spread across his face and he lovingly croaked, “My love, your hair looks like an exact mould of the Statue of Liberty’s!!”
This Don Juan of compliments came as no surprise to me, as my hair truly does have a life of it’s own.  I dream of having that perfect just got out of bed look, but you either have it or you don’t… I don’t….Annabel Dexter Jones does!  She might be one of the best examples I know of achieving that perfect balance of messy birds nest hair, slightly puffy sparkly eyes, little creases her pillow lightly pushed onto her cheeks and a giant big all encompassing, ‘I love life’ smile.  To me that is one of the most beautiful, sexy ways a woman can look and it was with this in mind, that I asked her if I could come around to her place early enough to capture this .
Annabelle is the youngest of the tribe that makes up the intimidatingly successful Ronson dynasty.  Mum, Dad and all 4 other siblings reign kings and queens over their various industries and Annabelle is fast becoming no exception.  She is a model, modeling for, amongst other people, Louis Vuitton Jewelry and also for her fashion designer sister, Charlotte Ronson, which is actually where I first met her when I styled those shows.

  • She also dabbled in fashion design herself when she created a capsule collecting for Faith Connexion. However, a couple of years ago she decided to put all of these to one side so she could focus on her true loves, acting and writing.  Agents were quick to sign her, recognizing in her a very sellable package of energy, beauty and talent. Already she has appeared in Sophia Coppola’s Marni for H&M commercial, Leo Carax’s film Holy Motors,  Missed Connection by Martin Synder and with four films in post production, we are set to see a lot more of Annabelle up on the big screen later this year.
As we settled down to our morning coffee to catch up on each others lives, Annabelle, wrapped in a chic Chinese silk inspired dressing gown, launched into her hilarious stories of her Christmas holidays spent with all the fam. Often likened to the Royal Tenebaums, Dexter -Jones says she gets a lot of her material, for her acting and writing, from just hanging out with this quirky bunch of beauties.  With her awesome mixture of self deprecating, observant humor she laughed at herself as she told me how she went around to each member of the family over the holidays, telling them in what ways they needed to change their lives for the better before realizing that she was just projecting her own issues onto them! Ain’t we all guilty of that?!  If I could focus the same energy on myself that I do on fixing other peoples problems, I’d be so zen you would probably be sitting cross legged right now reading 5 minutes with Buddha!  This same bossy honesty also found her on the phone with her father one day, telling him in no uncertain terms that it was a really bad idea if he bought that H Lorenzo, neon splattered Louis XIV chair, especially after all the hard work she did on redesigning his house!! She loves her dad, a lot, but 80’s rockers have no taste!!

  • And so the new year starts and for Annabelle that means getting the short film she wrote last year, about the craziness that can ensue when you are going thru a break up, made.  Every bit the renaissance woman, she not only has written it, but is also going to direct and star in it. But before she can even contemplate shouting “action”, there are the exhausting rounds of auditions for the current pilot season to embark on, for which she has the perfect combination of mamma bear manager and cut throat viper agent to guide her thru.  People are clearly seeing big things in Dexter Jones future.   She herself might have humble goals such as wanting to always feel like she is wearing her pyjamas, but those in the know, the powers that be, have a much bigger mission in mind for her, so hold on tight Dexter-Jones, grab Bambi, get ya ciggys, the rockets are firing up and you are headed for the stars…
